Psychotropic Side Effect Burden

Here’s A New Side Effect Screening Tool, The PADRS-10!

Medication side effects can have significant and lasting negative impacts on a person’s mental function and daily quality of life.  In an attempt to help individuals identify whether or not they are experiencing an unsafe reaction to their mental health medication(s), we present the Psychotropic Adverse Drug Reaction Screen – 10 (PADRS-10)Designed by Dr. D’Loreyn Walker MD, this screening tool is intended to help individuals identify some of the more severe side effects of mental health medications and facilitate a conversation between the individual and their psychiatrist or general medical doctor of choice.  Having been submitted for the review of general and behavioral health doctors as well as psychotherapists, the PADRS-10 is intended for use by both individuals concerned for medication side effects and medical providers for preliminary office screening of psychotropic medication side effects.  To purchase the latest revision of the PADRS-10, click here

For individuals looking to reduce their mental health care costs, we also offer 33 Ways To Stretch Your Mental Health Dollars, a resource to help people get more from their mental health payments.

Dear Patients, Colleagues, and Neighbors,

This is Dr. Walker writing. It’s with a heavy heart that I must inform you that the Walker Clarity Centre closed its doors on 1/31/2020. I have retired from practicing clinical medicine and am no longer engaged in providing patient care.

At the end of 2019, I received unfortunate news that combined with personal circumstances to require that I shift my attention to focusing on my family. I have already notified my patients and begun coordinating their transition to local psychiatrists as I complete their final medication and paperwork needs. To support this process, the contact form of this website remains active. The phone and fax lines have been disconnected as of 4/1/2020.

For those who were hoping to schedule intake appointments at Walker Clarity Centre for care, I regret to inform you that this is no longer possible. To help your search, I’m linking the psychiatrist referral list that was given to my patients (here) in hopes that it will assist your search for a local mental health professional.

Although this concludes my career in medicine, I’m honored to have had the opportunity to be of some small help. It’s been a privilege to conspire with all of you to better the emotional well-being of our community.

Thank you for allowing me to be of service.

– Dr. Walker –

About Dr. Walker

Prior to the closure of her practice in 1/31/2020, Dr. D’Loreyn Walker MD served as a board-certified Adult and Child-Adolescent Psychiatrist who had been practicing medicine for more than 15 years and practicing psychiatry for more than 10 years.

Dr. Walker completed her medical education and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill.  As part of her medical training, Dr. Walker rotated to Brown University to train with both the inpatient and outpatient child psychiatry teams of the institution.  A commitment to children’s medicine led Dr. Walker to complete a 2-year course of exposure to pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine, all in preparation for a career of service as a child and adolescent psychiatrist.  Dr. Walker went on to complete both her general (i.e. adult) psychiatry residency and child & adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Indiana University, which included training through the Christian Sarkine Autism Treatment Center at Riley Children’s Hospital.  To further augment her psychiatric exposure, Dr. Walker completed two rotations through forensic psychiatry which included education and/or service through Indiana University, the University of Cincinnati, and the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center.  As part of this education, Dr. Walker was privileged to work directly with both Dr. George Parker and Dr. Richard Lawlor.

Following graduation from her training program, Dr. Walker served in association with two Chicago area group practices.  She has also owned and operated her own practice out of the Oak Forest/Orland Park area.  In March 2018, The Walker Clarity Centre is Dr. Walker opened her second practice offering.  An out-of-network office serving the community of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. This practice closed at the end of January 2020.

Dr. Walker continues to believes that people with mental health disorders should first and always be treated as human beings – not as walking psychiatric diagnoses.  With this in mind, she remains committed to encouraging individuals to manage their mental health with streamlined medication regimens that do not involve potentially addictive substances.
